TISAS B45BA OR STINGRAY CARRY

When looking at the array of TISAS 1911, this model caught my eye for the ‘Commander’ like platform, 4.25” slide, Aluminum Frame along with the ‘Ed Brown’ cut, ambi safety and ‘Wilson’ like starburst grip panels.
$479.99 from Family Firearms, about $500 delivered to my FFL.
Upon arrival, the external fit and finish, as good as any I have seen.
Recoil spring is heavy and the pistol could probably use front slide serrations.
Trigger felt lighter than my ‘Raider’ and indeed, most of the time it was right around 4# and almost perfect.
Range time to come.
9mm model would be better for recoil but I don’t carry 9mm and there is no 38 Super Model so 45ACP it is.
If function is on a par with my ‘Raider’ than this is certainly the 1911 Carry bargain of the century!

I really like the serrations Tisas has put on these. Kinda makes me wish they sold the slide as a standalone component.

I just picked up the same exact gun from my FFL a couple of minutes ago. Ordered it Wednesday from Family Firearms. Same price $500 to my FFL plus the $20 transfer fee. It arrived yesterday but I wasn't able to get to shop to pick it up until today. Beautiful gun and an unbelievable price. It's my first Tisas so I'm hoping I'm as happy as everyone else here once I get it to the range. If it performs as well as I'm hoping/expecting I'm thinking a B9 Carry in 9mm might be next. I have quite a few 1911's but have yet to range into anything beyond .45 It's hard for me to come to terms with a 1911 in anything other than .45 but the more I look at these the more I'm tempted to give it a try.

I have the 9mm Stingray, it's been a really good little pistol for me, and is probably the most comfortable pistol I've ever carried. Light, handy, reasonably accurate with good ammo, and no sharp edges anywhere. I think it's a bargain that more people need to explore, frankly.

I probably need to adjust the extractor, it often bounces cases off my noggin, but I'm a habitual hat-wearing person, and I'm so focused on the front sight that I barely notice them. Maybe I ought to drop in that Bulletproof extractor I've been hoarding..........
I have the 9mm Stingray , primarily bought it for carry but it also makes a decent range gun . I like the weight and runs good too.

Yup. Stingray owner here. My only 9mm 1911. Easy to shoot, accurate. I fit a new extractor and a 12# variable recoil spring, plus a short trigger recycled from another Tisas. Also a new single side safety to go with the sear and hammer tune-up I did. Oh yeah some cool Duragrips to match. It runs like a champ.

It's a keeper and a nice companion to my .45 Bantam.

You must be one more 1911 owners that does not know the Colt Commander history ?? This 1911 was first designed in '49 to be a lite weight 9mm and the alloy frame was used to try for a military contract against several other brands and then upfor sale to the general public in 1950 in 9mm , 38super and 45 .
Just got home with Tisas Stingray B45BA. Probably won't get to shoot it until next week. Thought I was thru buying guns but this one really appealed to me. I paid more than the OP but didn't have to drive mucho miles to find one cheaper.

My original intent was to get an inexpensive 1911 to practice stripping, both field and complete. Didn't trust myself on the DW ECP. Now I'm not sure I trust myself on this one.

I say that after every purchase- This is the last one, I can't think of anything else I want. Until I find the next, last one.

Range time today, right out of the box, no prep.
Rem Ball 7yds, two handed rest.
While only loading 5 rnds at a time, after 30 rnds had two failures to chamber on the fifth rnd. Loaded two more mags with 8 rnd each, no failures.
As good as ANY 1911 45 ACP I have ever shot!!!!!
Superb carry trigger, great ergonomics, stout recoil spring.
Next was 5 rnds to the head, two handed standing slow fire.
Need to adjust the rear sight.
Have to find sight pusher.

The Stingray is aluminum frame. I don't think the .45 barrel is ramped liked the 9mm is, so is the feed ramp on the .45 cut into the frame?
Yes.

Sounds like a great pistol. I would have been happy with either the 45 or the 9 Stringray. I ended up ordering the 9 version yesterday after a lot of pondering the merits of the two. I love, absolutely love shooting 45 acp, but the ammo price has gotten nuts, and I no longer reload. I have around 3500 rounds of 9mm to go with the 9mm pistols in the guns safe, so I figured I'd get the 9......knowing the 45 is still out there waiting for me to bite!

I have a sight pusher tool below. I'd be happy to loan it to you or anyone else, but give me a few weeks to sight in my new pistol. Although, often at the range when I'm sighting in iron sights I just take a plastic mallet and brass punch to drift the rear. But the offer stands; just let me know.

I can say I have been impressed with my 9mm Stingray. With just a bit of tweaking it is really superb for a pistol that cost 500 bucks. I have the .45 Bantam lightweight commander and while that pistol is a considerable step up in overall build, the Stingray holds its own quite well and is just as accurate. I cleaned up the stock hammer and sear, fit a klonimus extractor, popped my leftover GI short trigger in it, fit a cheap but effective klonimus safety instead of the stock ambi part, and the gun runs. I also tried checkering the msh LOL. Not bad. Grippy! I wanted to keep the mods cheap but worthwhile. She's a keeper. Oh yeah, some grippy duragrips.

Need to find someone who can match the rear slide pattern for the front of the slide?
