Tisas Box?

1029 Views 24 Replies 19 Participants Last post by  tiribulus
I recently bought a Tisas 1911 Duty B45. The serial number indicate it was produced in 2022. It came in a paper box, with what looks like the proper information on it.

I'm wondering when Tisas started using the plastic box?

Maybe their source for the plastic cases is back ordered due to increased sales.

imo, the case is nothing to write home about. My pistol is great tho.
:unsure:I thought a lockable box was some kinda state or federal law, and most handguns I purchased in the last 2 decades have come in plastic boxes. Ruger even includes a small brass padlock. (y)

Garands and 1911s from CMP all come with lockable hardcases.

But the Cimarron/Uberti I recently bought came in a plain cardboard box, so I reckon I was misteakn.

Those plastic boxes do take up way too much room in a safe though.

Old stock, we phased the cardboard out in spring 2022 through the summer.

the OEM plastic boxes are not the best to store guns for a long period.

My SIL purchased a plastic Tisas box from ebay for his Alexandria, LA Gun Show marginally used 9mm 1911 Tisas. Box had all contents except for the magazines.

I don't believe so as the Springfield SA-35 copy of the Hi-Power comes in a cardboard box and so do the new IWI Masada pistols. In general the plastic carry cases are nicer though.

I would never store any gun in its plastic case. And I have a couple range bags to use, depending on what I'm bringing.

I do have all the cases/boxes that my guns came in..... collecting dust.

Mine go into their plastic cases for range trips, the range requires all firearms be in some sort of case.

I don't think so. I've purchased Rugers, Springfields, and a Taurus that came in cardboard boxes.

And why is this?
You can always add desiccant.

I applaud Tisas for the box upgrade when everyone else is cutting costs (Springfield, S&W, Ruger, etc.).

Springfield had the nicest boxes and now they’re among the worst. I may be the exception, but I’d pay an extra $20 for quality packaging.

I thought Tisas was going to start selling the plastic cases on there web site. I thought I heard that somewhere. Any thoughts?
Short answer...They trap moisture.
What if there in a moisture free area?
Once I get a new firearm home I've never used one of the OEM plastic boxes. They're stacked up out of the way in the corner of my basement with the CMP 1911 box on top. The guns are stored in my humidity controlled gun vault.
Thanks @Tisas USA and other folks who replied.

The Tisas plastic case is very nice, but I’m unsure if it’s airline compatible.
I’m one who removes it from the case, then stores the case until the firearm leaves my ownership. If Tisas would give it to me in a brown paper bag for a slight savings, I’d opt for that! 😁 I’m interested in a quality firearm more than the packaging, but that’s just the way I use it and store it.

Put some desiccant in it. And don't put it away wet (with water moisture) all over it.

Not in an air conditioned environment.
