What's everyone's opinion of the titanium firing pins and heavy springs in the loaded pistols. Are there any downsides to the titanium firing pin and heavier spring?

No downsides that I know of...around 11,000 rounds in my Pro.

Second that. Probably wouldn't spend the money to buy one, but have had no problems with any that were installed in my guns.

Marginally faster lock time with the titanium pin. If you can perceive it, I need you for some scientific experiments. *G*

Titanium may wear a bit faster than steel, but pins are cheap.

Is a heavier main spring necessary when using a Titanium firing pin?

I believe he is referring to a heavier firing pin spring instead of a heavier main spring. You can actually go to a reduced power main spring without any adverse affects. I did it in a Colt Combat Elite that I had. When you buy Wolff recoil springs you get an extra power firing pin spring. They work great.
