All:

I am looking for recomendations on good training (schools and/or instructors) in Illinois (Wisconsin or Indiana may work as well). Primarily interested in defensive (combat) handgun. The intention is to learn how to use the firearm to its and my potential - both for IDPA and for defensive purposes.

Thanks in advance!

NITac

The Northern Illinois Tactical Shooting Club (NITac) used to hold basic NRA firearms training for a long time. They have a handful of excellent NRA certified instructors that have gone to other advance schools (Gunsite, TR, etc). I'm not sure if they are doing that anymore. I do know the shooting club is still around. Take a look at the website:

I can highly recommend Midwest Training Group (MTG).

I was there for Ken Hackathorn's Advanced Handgun Tactics last August. They have a great staff, good lunches available and a nice range at Darnell's Range near Bloomington, IL.
