Howdy,

I'm having a 1911 built for my GF, she has small hands-So is a short trigger is is order for her, or a medium one?

My question: Is there any advantage for a flat trigger over a curved trigger for a small handed person?

The manufacturer cliams it " Delivers Consistent Length-Of-Pull Regardless Of Finger Placement"Could that help make it easer to shoot under stress by not having the possiblity of your tirgger finer rocking up and down in the curve of the trigger

I personally like curved, but no real particular reason why, just personal preference. Oh wait, did I just state an opinion??? OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Just kidding, lol. I don't think a flat trigger would help that much in terms of hand size. The best thing is to make sure the backstrap is flat and not arched and maybe slim grips might help too. I thought the curved trigger kind of guided your finger to the middle.

And the mil-spec trigger is much shorter than the fancier ones with the adjustable overtravel screw or what-not. So maybe you can get one of those installed??

Assuming the same trigger "length," a flat trigger can be better than a curved trigger for someone with small hands and/or short fingers. Using a long length trigger as an example, the length of a long flat trigger (which has the same length no matter where on the trigger the finger is placed) is the same as the center (i.e., the shortest part) of a long curved trigger. That is, the top and bottom of the curved triggger's face and even longer than any point on the flat trigger.

We recently installed a 10-8 Perforance flat trigger on my wife's Springfield EMP. Even though the 10-8 Performance trigger is a long trigger, just like the OE trigger, it fits my wife's peitite hands better.

Now, one thing that may be difficult is finding a short flat trigger. Most flat triggers I have seen are long. If the choice is between a short curved trigger and a long flat trigger, the short curved trigger will be shorter.

Also, as a side note, the flat trigger now on my wife's EMP is the first flat trigger I have used. I have really fallen in love with the feel of a the flat trigger and I think I am going to replace the triggers on both my Colt Gunsite and custom built Caspian with 10-8 Performance flat triggers.

The problem is ...Can anyone point to a short flat trigger? I've never seen one available. The shortest trigger I've found is the STI short polymer. The Greider short is about the same size but felt longer. The standard 1911 A1 trigger is the same size. Flat ? It would be longer in LOP my guess.

Haven't seen a short, flat trigger. Suppose you could make one from a long, flat trigger if you're good with tools.

Greider makes a S, M and L curved.
10-8 makes a long, flat.
EGW makes a long, very slightly curved, almost flat trigger that's just barely longer than 10-8 totally flat trigger.

Brownells carries all of the above, except the 10-8.
