I'm having some trouble with the bushing on my new (pre-owned) colt officers acp xs. the bushing cannot be removed by hand, has to be turned with a wrench, and the only way to remove it from the slide is to tap/smack it out with a small mallet and nylon punch-this seems too tight to me???? I already ordered another "stock colt" bushing from brownells, and a drop in one by kings, along with some wilson mags, smooth colt grips, etc...
Hopefully that will solve my problem-has anyone ran into anythign similar? I am not familiar with the officers acp.
thanks in advance,
Derek

Guess it is just a thing with the Officers acp-i'm trying ot keep it as stock as possible-don't the plugs and guide rods require modification to the slide?
Maybe shooting the snot out of it will help it-I don't know how many rounds has been through my baby-it has been carried, but probably not shot too much, it was probably traded in because it recoiled-who would have expected that?!
It already "ate" one polymer bushing wrench!
about to go take it to the range for a quick 50 rounds this morning-maybe that will help things.
cheers,
Derek

One of the best ways to achieve accuracy in a 1911 is to have a tight bushing fit to the slide and barrel. I have a couple of 1911's that require the use of a bushing wrench. I do not recommend changing any fitting as long as it functions. You could very well reduce the accuracy of your Colt Officers Model.

Only 50 rounds, but it went without a hitch. didn't even have time for a militech-1 bath-just used some gummy old wilson lube. accuracy was great-but only went out to about 15 meters. this is not a target pistol but it was spot on where the dot was and everything went into one hole anywhere from 7 to 15 meters out. It is soaking in mpro7 7 now, and the bushing was a little easier to remove. I ordered a stock bushing from brownells, but it was back ordered, so we'll see what the kings busing does. MIght order the ed brown kit today too-just see what works.
I was very impressed. recoil was there, but no worse really than my lw commander- a bit snappy but cool. controlled pairs were slower for me, because I shoot 9mm alot and don't have alot of practice with this yet.
but I love it. now I gotta find leather...hmmm alessi or milt sparks.....
cheers,
Derek
