I thought the grips on my pre 70 Gold Cup were plastic. Very course feeling and slips in your hand with little sweat. But I took them off during a major cleaning and wood was the grips. I think the WWII A1s were the only plastic grips on 1911s. I could be wrong but, my gun is'nt far seperated from 1964 only four years. And she wears wood with a strange plastic finish a sharp checkering. I was dupped and you were too I think.
