Both pistols are listed in the SRS database as being used by the USCG. The .45 was used on the USCGC COBB and reported LOST in July of 1943.
The ACE was originally purchased by the Coast Guard in 1934. It is also listed in the SRS as being used for training at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving pistol range in 1940.

So #831670 was reported lost in July 1943? Boy, it certainly didn't last long in inventory before being pilfered. No wonder it's still in perfect shape.

I hope the Coast Guard doesn't read this post and sick CGIS on your trail. I doubt if there are any limitations placed on stolen federal govt property. Especially since it is worth more now than when it was new. Maybe I should keep it safe for you

My Dad was disembarking from his ship at the end of WWII and had broken down a 1911 and stuck it in his seabag. He got scared at the last minute and put it all back...
