I was cleaning some pistols and afterward this part was found on my gun mat. What part is it and where is it located in the pistol?

As others have said, a firing pin stop for a 1911.
I'd be concerned about making sure the firing pin didn't fall out as well.

If the gun is a Series 80 then the firing pin would NOT come out without depressing the plunger.

Thanks for the info. I've never owned a Series 80 gun, only Series 70.If the gun is a Series 80 then the firing pin would NOT come out without depressing the plunger.
