I recently purchased a springfield Champion and Have been looking at some of the full profile compensators as a way to add a comp, but still keep the look and size of full sized 1911.
Im wonder if anyone has attempted this, whats involved.
could a FULL LENGTH guide rod be used if a comp is installed? any opinions ect are appreciated.

it is doable..

get someone that knows what they are doing..

I had a really nice 5" full-profile comp gun in 38 super. The guide rod was custom as the takedown of the gun had to change with the comp..talk to George at EGW..he is one of the best..

I remember seeing Terry Tussey do that type of work awhile back. The cut was so precise I didnt catch it until he racked the slide. Superb workmanship! Be prepared for massive wallet shock though because his work is pricey but well worth it.

I just looked up the site and theres a picture of the gun I am talking about

It can and has been done for many years. The full profile comp's that we make and use are designed to use a 2 piece FLGR for a 5" gun.
