Having a super hard decision on which one to get. I love the rail on the specialist but also love the looks of the Valor. Tough Choice.

I have a duty treat Specialist and just could not be more happy with it.

Im up to 400rds with zero failures so far....she's a machinę.

The VZ Operator II grips are awesome! I would highly recommend the Specialist.

Either way your gtg.

I have both and couldn't pick which one I like better, you have a tough choice in front of you.

Do you like slim grips or standard width grips?
Do you like ambi safeties or hate them?
Do you want a 2-piece MSH/Magwell system?
Do you like or dislike extended mag releases?
How important is the rail to you?

I think answering those few questions should tell you which to go for. Sure we're talking 1911s here and you can change anything you like or don't like but at this price point I sure didn't buy these guns thinking "now time to start swapping stuff out".

Since it sounds like you like a gun with a rail (which is usually the love it/hate it factor for the Specialist) it seems to me that the Specialist is probably the gun for you. And it is a HELL of a bargain for what you get, a pistol just full of value. Paul is right about the VZ Operators II.........I really didn't expect to like them. They looked "loud" seemed a bit non-traditional but after handling them I'm sold. FANTASTIC grips.

Right on guys.. Im super excited about either one.. I really want the Duty Coat but I think my wallet and my wife would prefer me getting the stainless. LOL. I have around 1300.00-1400.00 to spend.. I know I can get a stainless for that price but Im hoping a Duty Coat pops up. It could be used but has to be MINT. If any of you guys know of a DC for that price PLEASE let me know. Thanks and God Bless

Just looking at GB right now I see a few under 1400 that are the regular stainless finish.

One thing to consider is you could save a few bucks and keep your wife happy by picking up the non-duty treat gun now and then later on send it to Dave Severns to get the hard hat treatment.

I've been struggling with this same dilemma, I love the classic lines of the Valor but I know the Specialist is great bang for the buck. I already have a railed TRP and don't need the rail....but I know where there is a Specialist available and can't find a Valor locally

I don't want a rail or an ambi safety and I prefer slim grips, so the Valor was an easy call for me. But if I wanted a railed 1911, no question I'd go with a Specialist.
