USPSA Inland Empire Sectional 2016

My Father's Day present, to be able to go off for the weekend and shoot the 2016 Inland Empire Sectional Championships. It was a fun 9+1 stage Level 2 match shot at the Rattlesnake Shooting Facility in Benton City. I couldn't engage match mode for a few stages and I paid dearly in penalties. Still managed to edge out 3rd Open. Thanks to everyone who setup this match every year, I'll be back!.

USPSA Renton Series Match June 2016 - Match Win!! Open Division

What an amazing day to shoot, sun was up, wasn't too hot, great stages and lots of snacks/coffee. It's the series or points match held at the Renton Fish and Game Club. Had a momentary lapse in match mode but did well mostly. Came away with a match win. Thanks to everyone at DownZero for setting up this match!

2016 VA State IDPA Championship 24 JUN

Well, the match is in the books and Mumford Coldwater Shooting Sports Team had a blast...We shot 16 stages in one day. I was smoked. I had a decent match but, did not meet my expectations...I was 8th in CDP Expert and 104th out of 216 Shooters. By the end of the day my focus was shot and I made some stupid mistakes. Got my only procedural penalty of the day and 2 FTN(Failure to Neutralize) on the 14th stage we shot. I have to say flying in a private plane makes traveling with your firearm to a match much easier and a lot less hassle from the morons at TSA.you're going to notice that I go from stage 13 to stage 15, and yes there are 16 stages I have 15 recorded, I have a nice video of me standing up when I finished shooting stage 14 and walking out to check targets with the Safety Officers...trust me you're not missing anything. For your viewing pleasure...

USPSA - Technical Stages @ PB July 2016

'Twas a great battle in the Open Division today. Nick and I were back to back till the very end where a malfunction cost me the possibility of the match win. Great technical stages that I haven't seen before which makes it a ton of fun. Hope to shoot more stages like this in the future.

Edged out another match win today. Shot a clean match but felt super slow. Must be all that extra calories I'm lugging around. :) Made a few silly mistakes here and there. Need more focus. Also switched to using my iPhone for 3rd person videos and used the Slow-mo mode for some of the shots. Hope you like it.

USPSA Custer Aug 2016 - Open Division

Custer's range is one of the best run with very interesting bays which allows them to design fun and challenging stages. This month's match had lots of low ports which makes it hard for aging knees to deal with, at least the bays had soft sand. I felt slow in some stages because I was waiting for a perfect sight picture instead of shooting early, calling my shots and correcting them if needed.

Headed down to Albany, Oregon to shoot the 2016 Columbia Cascades Sectional Level II match at the fabulous Albany Rifle Club. Managed to squeak in a 3rd place finish with lots of abruptness and hesitation in my shooting. Did not feel smooth at all except for one stage. I think my shooting platform is weak while moving, so I know what I'm going to work on for the next few weeks. That said, I thought my steel work was awesome! Thanks to Jemy for taking video of me from other angles.

Holy Grail Themed Washington State USPSA Championships Aug 2016

The guys at the Custer range never fail to impress us USPSA shooters. They design fabulous stages and run them in a fun range with many varied bay layouts. This year, they've decided to host the Washington State USPSA Championships and boy did they deliver. The theme of the match was inspired by Monty Python's Holy Grail with evil white rabbits strewn all over the range and other hilarious movie references embedded into the stage designs.

For this month's match, I helped to design three stages so that we can practice for the upcoming Nationals in October. Stages 2, 3 and 7. Decided to test hard leans, difficult shooting positions and long distance partials which is going to be most of the shots in Nationals. The Universal Shooting Academy range has lots of deep bays and they make use of every bit of it. I was very successful in calling my shots and called almost every single one at this match. I just had some mental disconnects with movement and positions.

Had a really great time in Billings MO at the 2Alpha Practical Shooters monthly match! If you live the SWMO or NWA you should head up, and check it out. Matches are at the Springfield Benchrest Club.
I placed 8th overall, 3rd in limited and 1st in limited minor.

Managed to squeeze in one last match before Nationals. It was the yearly Series match up at Custer Sportmens Club. Custer's matches are always fun and this time, featured a TON of running in the sand. Managed to take 1st open despite making a super huge mental mistake for not kneeling during the classifier. Could have been a GM score but oh well.

Looking forward to Nationals in a few days.

2016 USPSA Hurricane Nationals Day One

Been preparing to shoot this match for almost a year. The normal way the Nationals have been shot through the years is in a three day format. This time round because Hurricane Matthew is forecast to hit Florida, they've changed the format to 10 stages on the first day, break for the Hurricane and hopefully resume on the 3rd day with another 10 stages. It was definitely a tiring day and I wish I could have done better. I'm still watching my sights but ended up tagging a lot of no-shoots which I don't normally do.

Onward to the final day, after the Hurricane blows through of course. :)

Movember Classic Charity Match 2016

The November Charity Match run by the DownZero crew is a yearly match to promote the awareness of Prostate Cancer. They combine the USPSA stage design principles but with IDPA scoring. It's a fun match for a good cause. If you're male above the age of 40, go get a yearly exam and start tracking your PSA levels. Early detection is the key to survival.

As for my match performance, well, watch the video. Some mistakes here and there but the biggest match breaker for me was my death jam on Stage 5. Sucks when a stuck case comes visiting. That's my 3rd stuck case in my years of shooting.
