Your best bet would be to go to the Stafford County Courthouse and apply for a CHL. It is only $50, is good for 5 years and it is quite simple to apply. It requires 1 sheet of paper and the money. That is it. If you have a CHL from another state, include the copy. If not, submit your military pistol qual. The permit should arrive in 4 weeks. The clerk is a former NRA attorney and is a very reasonable guy. I would not recommend carrying without a CHL in Virginia. For instance, in Stafford it is illegal to have a loaded firearm in an automobile. Pay the $50 for a CHL and have peace of mind that you are obeying the law. Good luck and enjoy QMCB.
