Need some help finding a vice block for a Wilson AR9B. It takes Beretta double stack 9mm Mec-Gar magazines.

Converting a pistol to a carbine and need to remove the castle nut (staked in two spots) so I need to secure the lower well enough to break the castle nut free.

My only other option would be rubber vice pads to secure the lower.

I called Wilson but it is Friday and no luck with the CS people.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I’m good with working on 1911’s but am a novice with doing anything but cleaning AR style guns.

Thanks.

That one is for the upper and actually Wilson’s 9mm uppers are a little different from a standard AR and a standard upper block won’t work.

I’m needing to secure the lower to remove and replace the buffer tube.

Remove the buttstock and put the buffer tube in the vise.

I have some hard rubber jaws and also these.

Great suggestion!!! I never thought of holding it by the buffer tube. I do have a set of nice rubber vise pads.

This is actually the better option. Reefing on the lower buffer tube ring while trying to crack a staked nut can bend or crack the lower. Buffer tubes are a lot cheaper to replace. If you don't have a set of rubber blocks find a local farm store and buy a chunk of rubber floor mat. You can get it from 1/4 to 1 inch thick and usually by the foot, you can make all kinds of grippy non- marring holders outta that stuff.

That one looks pretty handy. If you have one, where did you buy it from. I see Optics Planet and Cheaper than Dirt have them but I don’t like to buy from either. A Charlie’s Custom Clones does too, but never heard of Charlie’s before. I also see that Bud’s has it for less.

I ordered the NcStar today, we will see how it works when it arrives. I think it will work very well.
It works so well, you'll wonder why someone didn't come out with it a long time ago. Tightening the castle nut to 40 ft/lbs is as easy as can be. It is also useful for holding the lower for parts kit assembly. I've been using mine for about six months and only wish it had been available 30 years ago. There is another company making something similar that sells for $330, and it is usually not even in stock.o_O:ROFLMAO:

Did you get their upper vise block, too. I don’t think that I would have ordered the one you just posted.

Add Bud’s shipping to the cost and Bud’s and Charlie’s are almost the same. Should have ordered from Charlie’s.

I think being an old retired cop vise is spelled vice.

Yep, got 'em both. The only thing I wish the upper jig did would be to key into the barrel extension on a .223 AR, even though I don't feel that is absolutely necessary. Some would disagree and there are other tools for ones who feel that way.

I wouldn't order the green one if I could pay for it with someone else's money. It would be quicker to use in a manufacturing setting, but at home, time is not a concern.

Thanks, I’m not sure that will work with the Wilson AR9B or not but I think I will order it anyway. Going to order from Charlie’s this time. Just not a huge fan of Bud’s and I do like to help the little guys, when I can. If it won’t benefit me, it will be good for my daughter and son-in-law, so all will be good. Plus they’ll have to come visit to use it. Going to order it now based on your thoughts.

Just ordered it from the Country Shed instead of Charles, thought Charles is where I clicked but it was not. Anyway, it is ordered, too.

I think you're speaking about the lower tool, and it should work with any AR lower, regardless of caliber or manufacturer. They all have to be the same in the areas that interface with this tool.

BTW, when I looked, Bud's said the shipping was free on this tool.
