Hopefully by Friday I will have my NIB Protector Compact. Anything special I should know about breaking in, stripping and taking care of this gun. This will be my most expensive 1911. I have a Kimber Ultra Eclipse, Kimber Stainless LE and of course the venerable SW 645. I hope that I will be able to tell the difference with the Wilson gun. I got the compact model because I want to carry. Any ideas on leather. I ordered a Wild Bill belt slide for the Ultra. Perhaps I can use the same holster for the Wilson. Thanks for any comments.

Hovis,

Fortunately, it's a real "buyer's market" these days where quality leather is concerned. I'm sure you could find a GALCO or Bianchi rig that would serve you well, but why not put a premium pistol in premium leather, right? Using that philosophy, I'd consider the Wilson line (as Dennis has suggested), and check out the offerings of the "Big Three:"

If your Wild Bill's Belt slide is like mine it will work with just about any 1911. You'll like the Wilson too. Take care.
