I am looking to buy a hp and am wondering about the quality of the new guns. Also if which manufacturer/model should I be looking for in a used piece. Are fn models better than others? Thanks for the input.

Some people prefer the older MkII models without the firing pin safety as it affects the trigger reset.

Also, there are some Isareli BHPs with MkIII frames and MkII uppers.

All Hi-Powers are FN, unless you count the licensed, Argentine-made FMs. I bought a used Mk. III made in '93, and it is a great pistol. Even the trigger is nice. As much as I like to think forged is better than cast, cast-frame HP's are supposed to be better in every way than the earlier forged ones. The cast frames have a ribbed effect on the bottom of the grip frame, around the mag well. I paid $450 for mine at Christmas, and think that was a great deal. New ones are in the $650 range, around here.
