Hey all,

I called my local shop today to see if they had any new 1911 style pistols in. I was checking to see if they had the the new Kimber Eclipse that I could take a peek at. Anyway, my guy tells me that they have a couple of new Colt's. One is a Gold Cup and the other is one that I have never heard of or seen before. He said that it was a Custom Shop piece, it was 2 tone, adjustable sights, and a few other minor things. He said that the name of it was the 70CS or some such. I asked him if it was a series 70 and he didn't know. He said that it was brand new and that they just happened to luck into it from one of their distributors. He says that only vey few of them are made and they are all pretty much allocated when they are. He goes on to describe it as a "competition" gun, though it has no comp or things like that. The price rings in at 1550.
Anyone know what he is talking about? I told him I was coming in to see it this weekend as I am interested in seeing/holding it.

What do you think?

It is definately not a Special Combat Gov't model. My friend bought one from the same dealer about 2 years ago and i asked him specifically if it was that one and he said no.
After hearing what he said about the model and the CS part of the model that he told me I spent about 2 hours last night going thru all of the auction sites trying to find one and the only thing that I can think of is that he got the CS part from a serial # or some number that Colt uses to identify it. If you look on the Colt site they have some of the 1911's listed with thier number like that and some of them have that kinds scheme.
I am on a quest now, I will find out tomorrow if he has not sold it. I will report back here when I find out something.

Ok fellas I seen it last evening. The numbers I originally posted are the model numbers or some such. It says on the side "Special Combat Government". It was 2 tone blue and kind of a goldish looking stainless. It was a very nice gun. It had adjustable sights and an extended mag funnel. The price on it was 1549. Upon fondling it I happened to notice that the slide to frame fit was a bit loose. There was definately some side to side play with it. That was the only disappointing thing about it. You would think that Colt would take better care to eliminate that on the high end guns like that.
It was a really nice piece but not worth 1549 in my opinion. You can almost get a Wilson for that. One thing I noticed was that comparing the Colt to the Kimber and others is that when all is said and done nothing feels like the Colt, that is a good thing.
