I was at a Gander Mountain store today and in the case they
had a gun that said Colt Gov model. It was a matte blue and
had wood grips and it looked kind of like a Mil spec. The reason
this caught my attention was because it was only $479 brand
new. I didn't ask to see it because they were very busy. So
what do you think that was for that price? I never heard of a
Colt for as low as that. I appriciate your comments.

Could have been an old roll mark ("M1991A1 TM") '91, that was clearance priced.

Sometimes Gander gets a small quantity ofsomething like that in the pipeline, and prices it to turn over fast. I couldn't believe how little I paid for a Springfield Champion Loaded Series back in June. All goodies, including night sights. I believe the reason for the bargain was the flat finish, which was being discontinued on this model. Let's just say I got a couple Andy Jackson portraits , along with the pistol, when I handed the clerk five Benji Franklin pictures! If the gun you saw was indeed an old 1991 series, the friendly price on them "back in the day" was about $400, FWIW.

The gun was not a 1991. I know a 1991 when I see it old and

I just called Gander Mountain. The guy in the gun dept said it
is a series 80 Gov model. He said it is like the 1991 but that is
not stamped on it. He said it was a new gun. The price is $479.
Excellent buy IMO.

If so, I'd beeline down there and bring it home. I can't imagine not buying a new Colt at that price.:scratch:
