What do look for in buying collectible mags

702 1
Changj's post inspired my post. Being a newbie on this forum, please pardon my ignorance if this's been discussed before (I didn't find one in Search). I too am getting into WWII era 1911s, recently acquired a 1943 Remington Rand. The mag that came with it had no markings whatsoever. Any tips is much appreciated. TIA!

RR used mags made by contractors. they should have a letter stamped on the top of the base lip. Should find a S, L, R, or G. These letters indicated the sub-contractor. Charles Clawson and J.C. Harrison document these well in their ref. books.
