Noob here. I purchased my first 1911 style gun a few months ago and started reading/researching online to learn more about them, which has lead me here to this forum. By reading the posts here the quality and customer service of Fusion Firearms is really impressive. It seems hard to find U.S. companies that make U.S. products that focus on quality and customer service these days. Hopefully here in the near future I'll have a Fusion to call my own. As a noob to the 1911's I am curios to the features you guys chose on your Fusion and why? (Trigger Group, Guide Rod, Frame, Sights, Barrel, Other) Thanks

I intend to use the hell out of my Fusion. Because of that I opted for 9mm to lower ammo costs.

I won't be using it for carry so I got standard 3 dot sights.

I'm probably going to use it for competition so I went with a 3lb trigger and ext mag well.

Since I'll be putting thousands of rounds down range per session I chose chain-link FS and MSH, so I won't have checkering eating away at my hands.

I got standard Black Oxide finish because I don't mind holster wear (I actually welcome it) and have no problem with the pistol looking like it's being used.

I got 3 extra mags to be tested with the gun for reliability.

And then I threw in a few things here and there that are purely cosmetic.

Bob was nice enough to give me a mil discount, and with that my order is going to be about $400 less than the Baer I bought around this time last year. That's bang for the buck!

This will be my primary carry. For that reason I went with hard chrome for wear resistance plus I like the shiny. Most of the machine work for snag prevention and looks. No one should ever be shot with an ugly gun:biglaugh:

soup to nuts

Hiya Buck,

Let me tell you that the guys above have some pretty serious laundry lists that I'm sure work well for them. I just received my Fusion Commander two weeks ago and couldn't be more pleased!!!

My best advice is to try as many configurations as you can, i.e. officers size, commander side; regular 5" in as a many calibers as one can at your local range and/or shop, whomever the manufacturer. Then, once you find which works for you, e.g. "A Commander size platform in 40 S&W" order it from FUSION and you won't be disappointed.

Moreover, If you try a couple of sizes, in a couple of calibers, and then order from FUSION FIREARMS and end up disappointed, I'd be surprised. Too, I'll put my $ where my mouth is and give you $50.00 if you order your preferred configuration from fusion and are disappointed.

Cheers,
Eric in Ithaca

Post Scriptum: I don't own any Fusion stock and have never met any of the Fusion staff in person.

Thanks for the replies. Do all Fusions come with the .250 radius cut for the high ride grip safety? Once you have that do you then have to use the high ride beavertail? Is the choice between ramped or non-ramped barrel just preference or is there a reason to go one way or the other? Thanks again.

I just added the new radiused barrel bushing.
Buck, I had the same question about ramped vs. non-ramped barrels. Bob told me it was just user preference but sees no advantage or disadvantage for either for my application.
Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can jump in here.

My build sheet says .250 for the grip safety too. Not sure what that even means, but like most other things, I'm sure it can be changed.

I had a Tact-5 built for on duty use. I kept it relatively simple but there were a few things I had done.

I opted for 3-dot trijicon night sights, I have always liked them and I trust them.

I also had an extended mag well installed and Bob did a great job matching the angles on it too the frame.

30 lpi checkering on the frame and MSH.

I went with the Yukon coat, I hear great things about the Ion though too.

I also opted for the full ramped barrel. I want to be able to feed it anything I get my hands on.

Last but not least I also wanted a full length guide rod. Again, just a preference of mine.

I ordered a set of twins. One in 40 S&W, the other in 9mm. Bobtail commanders, with ramped barrels, stainless, relieved checkering on the front strap. XS front night sight, standard Novak rear sight. K style trigger, commander hammer, Big fancy serations on the top. Full length two piece guide rods. Basically like a Dan Wesson CBOB. Oh yeah, consecutive serial numbers. Now in month 7.
Rumor has it maybe two more weeks.

3 hole trigger as I like it's looks, longslide 10mm for match and hunting as I'm reloading 10mm and .40, brushed and polished small parts just cuz, the Traditional Hunter Elite package is what I want and need as an all around work horse, recreational shooter, with Bob Serva and Dale's touch. The greatest feture is it's made in the USA by accomplished gunsmiths who have a passion for the industry and sport. Combat hammer. As for the finish specs of colors and grips you guys will have to wait for the photos from the studio.
