What is de-horning?

As a new 1911er...I see constant references to de-horning...Can you tell me what this is?

Sharp edges of the pistol filed down to take away some of the sharpness. Doesn't make it as rough on 'ya.

Ah ok. I thought it may have been removing the piece of curved metal at the top of the grip safety, but I was mistaken.
