Dumb question here, but I'm new to competition shooting so I have to ask. When you see a promotion for a USPSA match, is it an IPSC, Bianchi match or what? I know steel is different, but is USPSA just an acronym for all ofthe matches, or, are they all different? A point in the right direction for information would be appreciated.

IPSC is the international assoc that USPSA is a member of BUT, there are some minor rule differences.
Bianchi & IDPA are different animals ... most differences involve equipment restrictions and allowable courses of fire.

You will find very few true IPSC matches run in the US. Most all IPSC type matches run here are actually USPSA matches.

For the most part when someone says IPSC, they really mean USPSA.

As of a few days ago, USPSA has its own rulebook instead of using an IPSC rulebook with a bunch of US only rules.

Yeah, we wouldn't want the US following the same rules as a bunch of foreigners. It would be like watching a soccer game on Monday night.
