heard somewhere that these goldies were the most accurate of the batches that they were made in.......thus the gold cup naming or something?

please inform me

comptechgsr, I own several 1911s that will shoot with a Gold Cup all day but they don't have the fit and finish of my National Match Gold Cup. Therefore, I say it is the fit and finish that seperates Gold Cups from the competition. Regards, Richard:D

IIRC the GC/NM was supposed to be able to shoot competetively
right out of the box. No adjustment or modification was necessary to get superb accuracy. Of course accuracy varied with each example but the range of tolerance was supposed to be extremely fine. It was priced accordingly and one was to accept Colt's reputation that it was worth it. Just my $.02. BJ

In general: wide trigger, special angle on the hammer, special sear. Target sights. Usually better fit/ more accurate barrel.
