If I ciphered it correctly, with a 230 gr bullet, it takes about 718 fps to make a 165 PF for IPSC competitions. Your 740 is just about right........ You need to be a touch over to be sure.... Don't know about any other types of competitions...... Is there anything other than IPSC?

165 (rendered 165,000) is right for IDPA, too.

In IDPA, if you're shooting CDP the power factor is 165, if you're shooting SSP it's only 125 (125000 = 230 gr. x 543 fps.)

Who do you know is shooting a .45 in SSP? A 230 at 543 fps must have the trajectory of a rainbow.

Oh I forgot, that's also the power factor for SSR.
John, I don't know who does but it's possible.

The round might even punch through the cardboard target.

For a 125 power factor you could use the 185 gr bullets going a shade under 700fps. Thats a reasonable speed, and will have very little recoil.

Your right about 543fps being slow. My arrows fly at about 305 fps!

I shoot 155 grain at 1200 fps using vit np320. Makes the comp work really well for a 45. Its been a while since I made a match, new addition to the family. Major was dropped from 175 to 165 for open class major???
