I just purchased a used Springfield (pic below). It is parkerized and has the mil-spec slide, but also has a commander hammer, aluminum 3-hole trigger, and modern beavertail grip safety. Are these parts after market parts, or does Springfield make any models that are somewhere between a mil-spec and loaded pistol? Any idea what the model number would be?

It also came with Ashley Pro-Express tritium sights, stipled frontstrap and mainspring housing, action job, Kim Ahrend cocobolo double-diamand grips, 4 shooting star mags, Bianchi IWB holster, and 15 rounds of hydra shok ammo. Gun is in excellent condition. I paid $505. Curious if I got a good deal or not. Thanks.

I finally got to the range today with my new pistola, and I couldn't be more pleased. I didn't measure my groups, but they looked to be around 1" at 15 yrds, which is good for me. I shot 100 rounds without a problem.

When inspecting my casings, I did notice a diagonal ding on the side of almost every one. Some were more pronounced than others. Any idea what might be causing that?

Concerning the model number, I e-mailed Springfield asking for any information they could provide, but have not heard back from them.

To answer your questions Simeon, the pistol does not look like it's seen a lot of use. The bore is excellent, and all other parts seem to be in near-new condition. I got the original papers and the blue case as well.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for your post Vapors750.

Here is the other profile of this gun. As you can see, it already has a lowered and flared ejection port. Any other ideas? I think I may post this in the gunsmithing section as well. Thanks.

I received a reply from Springfield Armory today. My pistol was manufactured in 10/96 and is a PB9108 (mil-spec). All of the features I mentioned above, with the exception of the flared and lowered ejection port, are not stock.

Concerning my dented cases, I appreciate your suggestions. Since I'm not very familiar with 1911s, I'm going to let a friend of mine that is take a look at the face angle of the ejector and extractor tension. I'll post what he finds.

Thanks for your help.
