You did real good on that buy! Looks like a Brown "Wedge" mainspring housing too.
Ditto Vapors - the brass mark sounds like an ejection port ding, if it's on the side of the casing. Even with a flared one you can get marks depending on how the brass rolls out. That'd be my guess anyway.
