Caliber? Series? Frame & slide maker? finish? grips? beavertail? etc. Mine would be:

Colt Series 70 frame & slide
undercut triggerguard
no front serations
Novak night sights
Wilson small parts (extractor, safety [non-ambi], firing pin, slide stop, etc.)
Cylinder & Slide Tactical II trigger pull kit
Ed Brown memory groove beavertail
arched serated (not checkered) mainspring housing
Ahrends tactical grips
standard length guide-rod
Nowlin ramped Barrel
checkered frontstrap 30 lpi
S&A ambi mag catch
Nowlin lightweight trigger
APW Cogan matte chrome finish
about $1k in parts & services, not including the base pistol, and/or the assembly & tuning. Yikes.

16 CMC Powermags (enough to get me through any 4 stage IDPA match without having to load mags, plus 3 for carry so I don't have to unload my carry mags for the games)

No need to dream

It's what came standard on my Kimber Ultra CDP Elite STS II.

Extended beaver tail
Meprolight tritium night sights
Match grade trigger
30 LPI checkering on front strap and underside of trigger guard
Ambidextrous thumb safety
Extended magazine release
Ramped bull barrel
Total melt treatment for rounded and blended edges

I took above ingredients and added a Wilson Combat magazine and I am now in 1911 heaven

I don't know enough to tell the difference between one high-end custom barrel (or slide release, etc etc etc) and another, but how about this for the basis of a "futuristic" 1911 :

Caspian titanium frame

Caspian damascus steel slide

Carbon creations grips

"your favorite" barrel, sights, trigger, and general guts, assembled by "your favorite" gunsmith

Would look and feel interesting, anyway! :D

Because I've never have been picky:

Frame and slide: Whatever work without rattling in series 70
Sights: 3- dot high viz made half way in size between GI and
Kings Hardball sights.
Small parts: Whatever works
Trigger group: Whatever works with a 5# pull
Grip safety: Whatever works
Mainspring Housing: Arched
Grips: Full checkered, preferably synthetic
Guide Rod: GI
Barrel: Whatever non-ramped .45 or ramped .38 Super barrel
that shoots at least 4" groups at 25 yds with me shooting
Front Strap: plain
Mag Catch: standard or tactical
Trigger: whatever works
Finish: Matte black Bodycote Tungsten DLC
Magazines: Wilson, CMC, Metalform, ACT/Novak, Mec Gar(in other
words: whatever works).

Assembled buy me or a competant gunsmith.

the only gun I know of that is 45 super rated is the springfield v16,and that gun is huge.
10 mm barrels dont seem to come in compact versions,my witness is a sweet little compact and will be my carry piece if ccw ever passes here, but I would like a compact 10mm made of steel.

You are confused. .45 Super can be used in any modern .45 ACP handgun in good condition with only minor, if any, modifications (mainly a heavier recoil spring). The whole point of .45 Super is that it DOESN'T require an expensive conversion to get more power out of your .45 ACP. There is no "rating" a gun for .45 Super.

As for 10mm barrels, you just need to shop around more. Getting barrels for a 10mm 1911 is no problem. Worst case, just special order one from Nowlin. And any .40 S&W 1911 barrel can be reamed to 10mm for cheap.

Guys, please don't hijack my thread. If ya'll want to discuss the 10mm and/or .45 super, start another thread to do so.
Thanks.
