I have been OCD organized for many years. I am 77. Every tool has a place and if I use one, it goes back to its place when I am finished.

I created a spreadsheet that I record my guns in. I record gun, purchase price, purchase date , when made, and what optic is on it.

The only time I have a problem is when my wife or kids borrow a tool. I may never see it again. Some times it is a good excuse to buy a better tool. I then tell them that the new tool can not be borrowed and they can find the old one.

First - it is NOT OCD - it is CDO. It has to be in alphabetical order! Second - uh - what were we talking about? Yeah I know exactly what you mean.

I've lost count:
Put the key to a gun cabinet in a "great" spot, ended up drilling the lock and finding the key 2-3 years later (it was a great spot).
Stood a barreled action up in the corner of an I beam pillar in the shop, looked at the same corner for 5 years swearing I left it there, then I looked on the other side of the I beam and there it was.
Got a phone call from my LGS saying my new SxS was in, I had to ask "What SxS? I had to check my e-mail before I believed him. I still don't remember bidding on it, let alone paying $500 for it.
And so it goes....

I thought better of relocating my spare gun safe key to a "better" location.

Yikes… happens more and more lately. Correlates to the amount of grey hair I have. Worse is going into a room for something (tool, etc) and not remembering why I just went into the room. Arggghhh.

Contracted Covid on T’Day this year. Both wife and I. Made the above struggles even worse.

Some say natural blondes are dimwitted because the blonde hairs suck the smarts out of their head. If that's in any way true, then it follows that our grey hair "may" be the cause of our absent-mindedness?

I put my spare....in the gun cabinet. It was safe and always handy when I opened the safe. Then I lost the other........

Well wonders never cease.
I was looking for something else and found a rifle case I forgot I had AND the missing case of MEN 5.56…..

I pulled my Redwing boots out of the closet to waterproof with some Kiwi camp dry.
I sprayed the left and hung it to dry, out drops a 115 grain 9mm jhp.
I sprayed the right and.... you guessed it, another live 9mm round.
I cannot imagine how I would do that by accident or why I would do it on purpose.
I certainly did not "Tuck them away".
