I'd like to buy a semi-custom .38 Super 1911 Commander-sized pistol but struggling to find one. The STI Ranger II is about what I'm after but it's only offered in .45ACP. The last time I spoke to someone at Kimber they did a commander .38SA but only in stainless. Anyone have any ideas? Do I need to spend big $$$ on a Wilson? I got a quote on an SVI Commander, over $2,500!

The Les Baer Custom Carry is now available in .38 Super in the Comanche (Commander) length. It's in the $1700-2000 price range. Not a whole lot cheaper, but, to build up a .38 Super off of Colt or Caspian components and the 'smiths parts and labor, it's probably your best cheapest (and best, IMHO) route. www.lesbaer.com
