While recently purchasing a new S&W 1911PD at a local gun store the owner mentioned that S&W makes the Frames and Slides for Kimber...That surprised me! I carry a TLE/RL (issued for SWAT) and really love the gun!!! Can anyone confirm if S&W does in fact make these parts for Kimber?

Kimber makes all their own parts in house, including the slides and frames.

There was a time many moons ago that S&W provided the raw metal blocks for the frames and slides. But even then Kimber still milled those into frames and slides themselves. This all happened several years ago. It is now your responsibility to update your local gun store owner on current information.

This rumor has been addressed so many times by Kimber. I suspect if you
were to pick up the phone and call them and ask about it just one
more time, you would have the pleasure of hearing the person on
the other end have a nervous breakdown! :biglaugh:
