I've noticed a couple of advertisements lately that have shown Wilson 38 super magazines. I'm on a super kick right now and it caught my attention. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Col,I have them. Work fine in my Commander 38S I also use McCormick and factory Colt. I have had a little trouble with any other but 100% reliability with the above. And I shoot 1000 rounds a week weather permitting.

hello.

i use wilson ten round .38super mags in my sti single stack for idpa "esp" division.
i put through 1,200 rounds last week through the gun and magazine combination.

couple problem areas. wilson recommends running rounds on overall length between 1.240 and 1.260. i loaded factory winchester silvertips as a carry round. it is well over 1.260 and the front of the bullet binds on the inside front of the mag body after about the fifth, or sixth round is inserted. it makes getting that tenth round in the mag right next to impossible (i finally did it and dented the case of the 9th round). on top of that, from the sixth to 10 round the tip of the round stays nose down in the magazine and causes "hang-ups" on the feed ramp. it was not as hard with my reloads at 1.250 length.
another thing. with ten rounds in the gun and one in the chamber. if you are running light loads (power factor 135, or under) the slide/recoil spring combo is slowed down considerably by the upward force generated by having ten rounds crammed in that magazine. it caused me malfunctions. either cut a coil off, or download by one round to nine in the mag and one in the gun.

loading 10 rounds in those magazines is very hard. once you load them, leave them fully loaded for at least two days to let the spring get its "set".

i am going to metalform magazines. much better all the way around. if you want to buy my mags e-mail me at [email protected]

hope this helps.

I love my Wilson .38 Super mags.

I think they recommend leaving them fully loaded for 2 weeks to "set" the springs, as it's not too easy to load 10 rounds without doing this.

The only thing I'm wasn't thrilled about is the effort it takes to seat a full magazine. Much more effort than a a 9 rounder, or the Wilson mag with one less round. Now that I'm prepared for the amount of effort needed, it's a non-issue.

I recently purchased 2 wilson combat 10 round mags, my problem is one mag will take 10, OK. but the other its NO WAY.
anyone have any tips?

i know its called gaming in IDPA when you put a 9 round mag in where it will suit you, and a 10 round mag else where... but hey i have an IPSC heart :)

You probably already have, but check the springs and make sure they are in the same way, check the followers, etc. If not contact Wilson, they will make you happy. Good luck, DC

I have a dozen or so of Wilson super mags.
Most will not lock the slide back in any of my 3 pistols. Though my Mecgar, Brown and even USA all lock the slide back. So I replaced the folowers with Shooting star ones and now they seem to work fine. If I had to do it again I would just by 10 round shooting star mags and be done with it.
