Nope, should not need to go through a real break in period, it should work fine out of the wrapper...
I would inspect the mag closely for signs of damage, and call Wilson... They have great customer service... Could be the follower is not moving smoothly, or you may be getting some kind of binding.
If you have other mags that work fine in the gun, and the 47 OX is giving you grief, Wilson should replace it...
