Does anyone know anything about subject rifle in caliber 308 Win? I may have a chance to purchase one at a very low price. Gun Traders Guide sez it was a gas operated semiauto and was produced from 1967 to 1973. Barrel lengths 22' or 19" in carbine model. Anyone have any experience with this rifle (or carbine model)? My only experience with an auto 308 was with an M14.

Over 260,000 were made from 60-73. Offered in both carbine (19") and rifle (22") configurations. Parts can be difficult to find, esp mags. I shot one back in the late 80's and had no problems with it.

Dr. J....
Don't recall what the issue was, but U.S. Repeating Arms put out a safety warning regarding the Model 100. You might want to check into this before you buy.

A great gun. Mags are not hard to come by. They can be purchased from brownells, but they will cost a lot. The safety concern was a firing pin issue that Winchester fixed for free. If you can get one cheap, buy it! MD
