Today I shot for the first time Winchester "white box" hardball. It had noticeably more recoil than S&B or AE hardball, so I assume it's a slightly hotter load. Is that correct? Thanks.

I found these specs at Outdoor Marksman ( www.outdoormarksman.com ) on their ammo pages for 230gr FMJ:

Winchester White Box:
Velocity 835 fps Energy 356 ft.lbs

American Eagle:
Velocity 850 fps Energy 370 ft.lbs

S&B:
Velocity 863 fps Energy 374 ft. lbs.

I've used both the WWB and S&B in my SA 1911 Loaded and I found the S&B has a bit more kick. For my level of ability, neither brand appears to be more accurate than the other.
