I just went for some parts to repair my Colt S-70, and while there picked up a new recoil spring. I didn't even look at the spring before I left. When I got home and started to install the spring I saw that it was shorter than the original. The package indicates:

Wolff precision load-rated variable power recoil spring
.45 cal - 38 super & 9mm 18LB

Has anyone used this type spring ?? would you ??

I'm sure your gun will work with that spring. You don't need a variable-power spring, and I don't think 18# is the optimum rating, but you won't do any harm by using it.
