I bought an Al Mar SERE 2000 folder and just got it in the mail. It's the satin finish. I like it, but on one side of the blade, there is a faint scratch, approx. 1/2" long, running parallel to the blade. Would this bother you enough to send it back for an exchange?

Also, can you buy a black clip for these? That shiny clip stands out.

Thanks,
Steve

A scratch that I put there wouldn't bother me at all. It adds character and shows that the tool has been used, not hung on a wall somewhere to be admired.

If the scratch was there from the factory/distributor, that's a different story and it probably would bother me enough to send it back.

Not sure if you can get a black clip. I would suggest getting some heat shrink tube (available at Radio Shack or other electronic supply houses). Slip a piece of black tubing over your clip, then use a lighter or heat gun to shrink the tube to conform to the shape of your clip. Works great, and saves a bit of wear and tear on your pants as well.

Users will get scratched, no problems there for me as well.

If it was a put away, it would go back to the factory.

Shane, good heads up on the shrink wrap.
