I am in the process of having a 1911 5" gun built. It will be used for defense and IDPA. I am looking for a high quality hammer, sear and disconnector. I understand that the person doing the work is the most important factor. However, is there one brand that is better than everything else? Price isn't a factor. Long lasting quality is.

Any information would be appreciated.

Mike, here is a list of the parts that I am currently using or have used and found to be of superior quality.

Hammers:

C&S Ultra Match
McCormick EDM
Nowlin 201 Pro
Nowlin Speed Demon
Koenig Low Mass

Sears:

STI Premium Match
EGW Competition EDM

Disconectors:

Ed Brown (Cast but have never had one break)
Briley (Machined from bar stock, my new favorite)

I've had good luck with a Ed Brown Hardcore hammer and Perfection sear in my Kimber. The disconnector is also EB.I'll be going with a EGW hammer and sear when my Caspian gets built. You probably could'nt go wrong with any quality brand name parts.
