All of us have seen some of Ted's master builds but when this modest "retro" build was made available to me it was a must have.

It's either a 52 or 53 Lightweight 39 super Commander that Ted built in 2019, the owner took it home and ran 1 magazine through it and tucked it away. 2 years later with other projects going he asked Ted to find a new owner.

No slide-top treatment, no 40 or 50 LPI checkering, no rear of slide artwork. Just a more refined version of what Colt was producing but with master-grade bluing and everything cleaned up and addressed.

I'm going to daily carry it if I can find some SD 38 super it really likes.

Personally, I had never seen this before, this little knocked down tab allows the spring to be rotated under it so you never have a flying projectile during a disassembly

That style of recoil spring plug originated on the military 1911’s. Been around a while…
That’s a good looking Colt.

That’s beautiful - outright gorgeous!
Sure hope you can’t find ammo for it - OK, just a little so you can have fun at the range - but not enough for EDC. And find a velvet lined holster to protect that blue.
Good luck with it!!

just about the right amount of work. did the early supers have accuracy problems due to head space? wonder if this one had barrel work. a real beauty!
