I was that the gun store earlier looking at a Prodigy and saw this on the shelf. It feels very nice in hand, they claim a Match grade barrel forged slide, a hybrid polymer stainless frame all DLC coated. Needless to see it followed me home instead of the Prodigy. Haven’t shot it yet, but will be next weekend. it’s also serial #14 which I though was neat. Some research shows they were just released to market, so we’ll see how it does in the long run.

Congrats!

I’m torn between this in 5” and the Prodigy 5”.

Whichever one I buy, it won’t be until next spring.

I already have the Alpha Foxtrot S15 that I’ve had a great experience with, so I’m betting the Romulus will be a great addition.

Just a note that the frame is straight-up (416) steel (not polymer). The grip module is polymer, though. It is a 2011-patterned gun, so the grip and frame are separate parts.

Let us know how well it treats you.

I thought I read the frame was stainless? I know the slide is. I’m new to the 2011 side of things. I went in to look at a 4.25” Prodigy and left with this. It feels better in hand, not sure how to explain it really.

Miller Precision Grip. Fit perfectly. Beforehand I had the factory trigger at about 3lbs. Not sure why but after the install the trigger was amazing. 2lb break with minimal take up and super nice reset.
The gun went from good to fantastic.

EDIT: Also with a bit of dremmel work to a cross armory adapter plate and a slight touch on a Gideon Omega I was able to get a large window dot (RMR fp) to work.

The gun is extremely smooth due to the DLC coating, shoots well so far, we haven't put more than 200 rds through it because she likes to shoot with optics and at first she got a shield RMS XL but for some reason she couldn't get used to it, it's a kind of weird optic, so she returned it and is waiting for Alpha Foxtrot to release the adapter plate for RMR so I can put a Trijicon SRO she got for it.
But on those first 200 rds there was zero malfunctions. I believe the gun is pretty well made. We shoot IDPA and I use a Bul Armory SAS II Tac 5 which I love.

It’s been a little over a year with mine now. It wear a Olight Osight red dot, the sight itself I have no complaints with. I had issues with the screws loosening even with blue loctite and removed the dot altogether. The only thing I haven’t done is run a 4-40 tap through it, I probably should and put the dot back on it.

Regardless, I have about 2500 rounds through it now, shot it in a few comps and have had one recurring issue, and I’ve narrowed it to a OEM Staccato mag. It get a double feed if I load it to max capacity, if I download that mag by 1 round and runs fine. The mbx mag it came with runs great. I ended up with a Staccato C and have shot ut a few times. The slide to frame fit of the Romulus is every bit as good as my staccato, after doing a very basic trigger to the AF it’s almost identical to the Staccato. My Romulus has been relegated to the safe and brought out for fun shoots, the staccato handles the comps now.

I do have one complaint, and that is with AF customer service. I reached out to them to see if they offer a threaded barrel for this pistol. That’s been 6 months ago and still no response from them either via email or a phone call back. I guess that means the answer is no.
