Hi guys, I know it’s not really 1911 oriented ...but I know that there are a lot of very experienced guys around here.
Something weird happened yesterday night at my indoor range. A man shooting a Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum revolver got hit in the forehead by shrapnel after firing a shot. The guy is alright, but its skins split open … blood and everything.
The man fired 3 shoots; the third one had that effect. Me and the range officer investigated a little. All shots where in the target, so we can assume that the bullet landed 50 yards away in the bullet trap. The target was paper by the way.
Looking at the table where he was, we found a copper shrapnel covered with blood. So we concluded that it was coming from the bullet and that it was the piece that struck him.
Anyone ever heard of something like that? How come bullet shrapnel can come back in your face? Any kind of spit back effect on a million chances or something?
We were clueless…
