Average round count?

What would you guys think the average round count for IDPA CDP division be?
I've been shooting IPSC for a while, but the 40 round/stage count is killing me. I know the IDPA has a way lower round count that IPSC in general.

Do you think 100 rounds would do it for IDPA or do you think I would need more like 150 or 200?

100 is about all I ever bring with me to my IDPA matches. We do a minimum of 6 stages. We've had a few 8 stage matches, which I REALLY LIKE!

A single string cannot be more than 18 rounds (gotta keep it revolver friendly).

Our stages are usually 1-2 strings each. We usually have 6-8 stages. Generally only 1 reload per string. Looking at around 100-150 rounds per match. I always bring 200 and am fine.

They also shoot USPSA at our range, so the guys who want high rount counts have that option.

Me? I like to get home before 4:00 PM. ;)

Our IDPA matches are usually 100-150 Max (usually right around 100). Last weekend in Las Cruces was a little under 100, yesterdays here in TX was 102. I shot one in NM a few weeks ago that was 38! That was a long drive for 38 rds, but I shot in CDP (1911) and ESP (XD45) to get more trigger time.

Let's face it, if a match were, "realistic," we'd shoot 3 rounds and practice calling our lawyer on speed dial. :)

I think 100-150rds over 6-8 stages makes for a long day. Try SO'ing AND shooting...Add in the time we get there early to set up (and beers in the club house after) and my kitchen pass expires pretty quick! :biglaugh:

On average, we shoot between 125 - 175 for a 6 stage match. I agree, the round count for some USPSA matches gets to be a bit ridiculous. I suppose that's the trade off for being able to shoot them as you see fit.

I generally take at least 200 rounds of ammo to an IDPA match, and 400 to a USPSA match, because you never know when you will have to do a re-shoot due to range failure, ect.:biglaugh:

It really SUCKS to run out of ammo! I've given fellow shooters ammo on numerous occasions, because they ran short---including to the match director.

I like the 18 rd string limit but a higher round count in an IDPA match would be cool. We just don't have the facility for that; Indoors, 12 lanes and 25 meters. We shoot the classifier often enough but rarely anything else over 20 yards. It separates shooter skill level pretty fast.
