Has anybody ever used one, and how do they compare with other shotguns in there price range? Wal-mart has a great looking camo 12 gauge pump for like 209.00 $ This thing shoots 2&3/4,3inch, and 3&1/2 magnums. It kind of looks like some other gun out there but I can't recall which one. Any advise on these things?

Danger Will Robinson! The Charles Daly pumps and autos are cheap Turkish crap. Steer clear of them like the plague. Their top of the line O/Us are good Italian made and the mid-range versions are OK, the entrly level O/Us are crap. Their rifles are pretty good, Yugo made Mausers. The .45s are cast steel Philipino crap. Their HI-Power clones are so-so Hungarians. Customer service rivals the worst in the business. If you want a good inexpensive pump, WalMart carries versions of Remington 870s for under $250.00.

Dear kugelspritzer,

At least two of our customers at the shooting preserve have Charles Daly autos and love them. They seem to be just as reliable as any other gas operated guns I've seen. I don't know anything about the pump guns but you should be able to find a good used Mossberg 500 for not much more money and there's no question about them being good shotguns. Stay safe, Gary

Thanks for the info guys. From what you say Gary they dont sound so bad, but Ranburn sounds like he has heard some terrible bad stuff about them. Can I get any more responses on this issue? With just two its kinda of hard to say. You know what I mean every gun maker lets a few dods out, just as they also get it right every now and then. THanks guys.

What would you be using the gun for?

From the few that I know and hunt with that have them, the cheaper model pump guns have not given them any problems to speak of (assuming you take care and maintain it properly). In that same price range, Mossberg 500's or the Rem 870 Express are pretty reliable

But if you are just looking for bang for the buck, look at the Saiga 12ga. Made in Russia, with the same action and reliablity of the AK-47, and has a detachable 5 round magazine. Do a search on the net or your local gunshow.
