Well I did some upgrades to the Gold Cup, I added a set of Wilson combat grips, full length guide rod with shok-buf and a set of fully adjustable Trijicon night sights.

The front is a .180 Trijicon, and the rear is a fully adjustable Kensight. My gunsmith locally installed them for me. He only charged me 25.00 for the install. The front sight was 65 and the rear was 116 so I was out the door for 215 bucks.

I believe it was a direct fit. I know it only took him about an hour to do the install and that included laser bore sighting to get it in the ballpark for me.

So much better than the original all black sights...

The funny thing is I picked up a slightly used 2010 GCT in 2010 with box etc. and took out the flugger with shock buffs. Since the first owner didn't put the orginal parts in the box I ordered them from Colt and also bought a nice set of wood grips at the same time. I am a shooty collector. I shoot my guns but except for grips, which are easy to change, do not change them and do save the ones that came on the gun.

I also was looking for something a little easier on my eyes for my Gold Cup. I have ordered a set of night sights from Fusion and as soon as they come in, my Gunsmith is ready to put them on.

Thanks for posting this! You just made my range time with this fine weapon much easier.

That is a nice SS gun. I have a blued 1996 GCNM enhanced that I bought almost new in box and "lost" the rubber wrap arounds also. Nice pistol. Of course it is a range toy. I do not carry it.

Same with a 1988 SS GCNM in my shooty collection. Colt was grooving the fronts of the frames back then so I switched out the rubber wrap arounds for some Silverwood grips from the old Ajax company.

I just bought one of the new round top GCNMs a couple weeks ago and am waiting to see which grip calls out to me to replace the plastic ones on that guy.

We're not upset, Nighthawk. Us old guys just smile and say "look at the Nimrod"......

Seriously - a part that makes the gun heavier, makes field stripping more difficult, prevents you from operating the gun one handed in a combat situation - everyone should have one, of course! As Clint Eastwood would say, "It's Stylish."

FLGRs have been tested and proven to have no effect on accuracy, and the spring is already supported by the recoil spring plug from one end and the recoil spring guide on the other so perhaps 3/8" is not fully "supported" by the stock setup. It's original purpose was simply as a gun weight - made of tunsten, it did help keep the muzzle down in early IPSC games - if you didn't have to carry it all day.

You pays your money and take your choice - it's a free country! CC
