Mark,

Having recently jumped on to the 1911 learning curve, I've found one thing that is subtle for a newbie but a common mistake and I'd just like to make you aware of it ahead of time. It's really easy to get the sear leaf in the wrong position. There is a photo, courtesy of Dave, in the following thread for correct placement: http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=369685

Enjoy

I just took apart my Ruger 10/22 yesterday and it's definitely a lot more complicated than the 1911. Simplicity is one of the beauties of John Browning's masterpiece.

...or a 1/8" straight punch, for the msh pin.
You ought to use a takedown pin for the ms but a 5/64" drill bit will do as well.
I like to assemble the sear and hammer on the outside of the gun using 7/64" and 11/64" drill bits in place of the pins so I can see what's going on with the interface.
A thin awl (or bent paperclip works) for aligning holes on reassembly.
Just basic tools besides that unless your barrel bushing is tight; then you might need a bushing wrench for that.
