DWX Compact trigger disappointment

Now that it is broken in, the trigger on my DWXc is good. I adjusted the sear spring and the pull/break weight is a hair over 3#, which is great for my purposes.

But, I decided that it has just a smidge more takeup than I would prefer. It's really just fine as it is. But, I figured if I could adjust it to take a little takeup out, why not?

I wondered if the stock trigger is adjustable for that. Rather than take it out, I figured I'd have a look at the pics of the replacement triggers that DW/CZ offers for sale.

Sure enough, all the triggers they offer for the Compact all show that they have the tabs that I would adjust to remove a little takeup. Cool.

So, I took my DWXc apart and pulled the trigger out to adjust it and... it does not have the adjustment tabs! It's as if they were there but then cut off.

Very disappointing. I really thought it would be the same as the replacements they offer. Oh, well, what's another $30 or so put into this pistol...? At least they do have replacement options that have the needed adjustment tabs.

And, really, it is odd, but it appears that this exact trigger - red, K, straight, for the Compact, is not even for sale on the parts page.

And the thumb safety that comes stock on the Compact is not available on the parts page, either. The safety that is listed there as "DWX Thumb Safety (Compact)" (part DWX0037) is actually the longer, single-sided thumb safety from the DWX full size.

I know this for sure because I ordered one and have installed it.

I have had hit or miss with DW parts and knowledgeable people there since the CZ buyout. But it might be worth a call to see about the part. Be prepared for a wait. It does indeed appear as if yours was cut or broken off. If you get someone on the phone there tell them to send you a new one since yours came that way. Tell them it is just good customer service. I have an old Monson made DW .357 wheelgun that is a really great shooter. I am hoping the merge with Colt might resurrect DW revolvers—perhaps it will be the best thing for the 1911 lines too. Time will tell.

A new replacement is $19 (plus tax and shipping).

If their website will ever work to let me reset my password, I am just going to order a new trigger and put it in myself.

I don't care that I cannot get a flat, red K trigger. I can get a flat, black K or a curved, red K, and I'm fine with either. I'll probably get a curved, red one.

I figure the chances of convincing them to actually send me a replacement trigger at no charge - AND that it will have the takeup adjustment tabs - is pretty close to zero. I'm not really feeling like spending my time on that, as it seems so likely to bear no fruit anyway.

I've ordered from the website twice now. Both times, I got an email order confirmation and then never heard another thing.

But, both times, my order was delivered in a week or less. I received an order today (Tuesday) that I placed last Wednesday at 5:24pm.

I don't like the communication. I'd REALLY like a tracking #. But, I'm not going to complain too much as long as the orders continue to be delivered like that.

I understand.

I do not plan to remove all takeup. I just want to reduce it just a little.

Not sure how it makes me safer that the gun has no tabs, versus just having the same trigger that you sell, but with the tabs not used. A $28 barrier to people dicking with their takeup seems like a pointless inconvenience for people who reasonably want to and are capable of adjusting the takeup. While at the same time doing nothing to stop ignorant shmoes from also dicking with their takeup. I mean, if it's REALLY a safety concern, why sell triggers with adjustment tabs at all?

But, I seriously am appreciative that you DO sell the triggers with the tabs and that they're only $19 plus tax and shipping.
