Howdy folks.

I was told that my EDC X9 pistola should be here in the next couple of weeks.

I've received a Tucker HF-1 that was made for it. It should handle my OWB carry.

I'm wondering what you've found to be your favorite IWB holster ?

I generally like SS2 & Criterion for commander & 5".

I'm kicking myself for not going ahead and at least ordering a SS2 when I ordered the gun. :( Just wasn't sure if I wanted to go straight drop or cant. I tend to prefer the SS2 lately a I sometimes carry commanders in front of my hip, too. Versatile & comfortable.

Was curious as to what you've found to be your preferred holster for yours.

Thanks.

P.S.-I didn't ask this on the kydex/leather forum due to simply wanting to hear from only folks who've spent time carrying the EDC X9.

Should have also added my gun won't have a rail.

My favorite IWB for any 1911-style gun is the Sparks Criterion; for OWB carry it is a Jason Winnie J111 (pancake) or Thad Rybka Rhodesian (straight drop), and for general range trips or high round count training days it is the Rhodesian or a Sparks 1AT-RT.

Thanks.

I'm not surprised in the answers. :)

I could easily do one-stop-shopping with the fine folks at Milt Sparks for all my holster needs.

I need to call them anyway, to place an order for some magazine carriers for both 1911 & the EDC X9. I've been using an MS pocket mag carrier & a NeoMag. They work fine....but I'd prefer to get stuff out of my pockets.

I’m bucking the leather trend and going with a JM Custom Kydex holster for mine. I have JM CK holsters for several other guns and I’m very happy with them so I expect no less with this one. If I carried owb id do leather, but my love handles make carrying owb way more difficult than iwb.

Wilson pancake

I bought the leather pancake holster off of their web sight for my EDC-X9. It conceals well, holds the pistol securely but still draws clean. There is no leather fragments on the front sight from the draw stroke, which some of my other 1911 commander holster produce. They are a reasonable price and good quality, buy one it will serve you well.

For OWB carry of my EDC X9, I use the Milt Sparks Professional (55BNS) sold by Wilson Combat. It is an outstanding, very sturdy but comfortable holster, made of horsehide with shark trim. The gun rides high and close to the body, with a slight forward cant. For IWB carry, I found a very surprising and inexpensive option -- the made in USA Relentless Tactical Ultimate Suede 1911 holster. The holster is rough on the outside and smooth on the inside. It has a very sturdy metal belt clip. While it is a bit longer than needed (it will accommodate 1911s of all barrel lengths), it is otherwise a minimalist holster, striking in its simplicity. It fits the EDC X9 very well, covering the trigger and allowing for fairly deep concealment and a quick, smooth draw. It is also quite comfortable and has no hard or sharp edges. Reholstering is not easy, as the holster is not rigid, but that doesn't trouble me. After all, concealed carry is really not about reholstering. If you want to conceal carry your EDC X9, this IWB option is very much worth considering. And, the holster carries a lifetime warranty!

Yes indeed. (y) (y)

Broke out a Criterion I have for 5" and wore it earlier this week. All day long...forgot it was there.

I have a Criterion for a 3" alloy officer-framed .45....that truly disappears from thought when it's in place. In fact, you don't even realize you have it until you shoot it. It looks like a little puppy....but its more of a mean little runt mongrel that bites hard, lol.

I am a self admitted holster snob. The older I get the more picky I get. Sorry but what works for ME might not work well for you.
So I worked together with JT Bulman to come up with a design that fit my needs. JT was even nice enough to name it after me!

While at first glance it may appear similar to other holster designs one of its primary features is its lower than normal ride height. I just don’t like “high ride” holsters, so this was designed to get the gun as low as possible while still able to obtain a proper grip from the draw. It’s also a straight drop which I wear at 3 o’clock. More specifically I wear it where the barrel/bore is at my 3 o’clock and the back wing tucks the grip in to my body.
It conceals very well.
The mouth is also steel reinforced.

That is very, very nice looking. Well thought out. Beautifully constructed.

Thank you for posting. I was unaware of this maker and appreciate the link. I'll go in there and look around. I believe my needs are covered for now with this EDC X9, but looking for a maker that offers models for a future LB Mono Heavy I'm thinking about.

EDIT:

Very impressive holsters in his wheelhouse. I like what I'm seeing.

Again, than you.

Thanks everyone.

Great suggestions in here.

I currently have 3 holsters for my EDC X9 and am in pretty decent shape.

I can't stress how much I like this gun. It feels molded to my hand....performs flawlessly......mucho accuracy....super controls & sights.

Extremely glad to took the leap of faith. It was a stretch from the normal 1911 frame style that I'm used to.....but in a super way.

Tucker HF-1, Milt Sparks VM-2 and Wilson Combat (Palmetto Leatherworks) Lo-Pro2.

This Tucker is extremely comfortable. The high ride of it places a premium on having a nice stiff belt.

I wore this one all day today. Funny thing was I was using a flimsy old belt, but it was still very comfortable and stayed put nicely. In & out of the car, walking, etc. Very pleased.

Decent holster, extremely comfortable, works just fine with my commanders & cco's. The pistol butt doesn't hold as snug against my side as it does in that Tucker HF-1. It also didn't require the break-in that the Tucker did, either.

That is what my brother uses for his X9 every day 100% of the time. I have one for mine as well (mine is railed and brother's is not) and for OWB it is a really great holster.

For what it's worth, if there are other railed EDC X9 owners lament that Vedder doesn't yet make a light tuck for the railed Wilson.

I had got a Glock 19 with olight Mini 2 holster from Vedder and my EDC X9 with the light fits perfect.

So I finally have my preferred light tuck for the EDC X9, though I'm stuck with the light as well, which is OK I guess.

I have a custom maker about 1 hour away from me who makes all my stuff since it's by far the most intricate and effective holsters I've ever used. He is able to create anything you can think up out of kydex and has a unique method that prevents scratching to the gun and also allows it to "float" so that once retention is broken there is no drag on the gun at all.

I would be able to bring him my X9 and have him use it as a mold for anything you would want done if you know exactly what it is you want shape/angle/height/profile wise for how you normally carry.
