Well, it wasn't an issue. decided to go for it and not worry. Only had time for 100 rounds but no issues at all. I'll have to say, although pricy this site is a game changer for an old fart like me. The Dot & Reticle configuration is outstanding. Much quicker target acquisition. I like the slightly larger window than the RMR and the auto brightness seems to work very well.

 

I don't have any optics on my pistols, but I've always heard good things about Trijicon optics. Good to hear it is working for you.

 

Glad you are happy with it. Could you post a couple photo’s as I’m interested in how it did fit with your first comment of slightly extending into the ejection port.

Thanks for the photos. Not being a red dot guy that clears things up for me. Did you get any brass kisses on the RMR?

 

No hits that I can detect. Definitely see some smoke stains underneath but nothing on the lens. Ejection seemed normal but I was indoors and the stalls are pretty small. I'll be outdoors tomorrow so I'll get a better idea. Will also be able to do a proper zero adjust.

Never liked red dots much but always like to try new things. Tried a frame mount on a LB that was a waste of money, especially now that I'm paying to have the holes welded and refinished. I was actually thinking about removing the RMR because just the dot seemed almost in the way and just using the iron sights when I saw the ad for the RMR HD, one last chance, I think it will be good. I go to work early, always dark, I work in let's say not so great area of town.

 

I was thinking about doing the same thing with my EDC X9, but Trijicon's spec sheet addressed this type of situation.

 

I never was very good at following the rules.

If it works reliably and continues to work flawlessly good-to-go. Notice the Trijicon spec sheet about the overhang "may cause malfunctions"; if yours doesn't you're doing okay. I think that warning on the spec sheet probably refers to more overhang or pistols that eject pretty much straight up and could cause ejection problems.

 

I don’t think you’ll have any issues… the over hang looks to be about the same as the SRO dot and I have three of those on three Wilson’s with no issues!!

 

Have a few RDS mounted guns.
Don't carry any of them.
My WC EDC X9 Experior doesn't have one.

I did a Midway Product Arrival Notification, and as soon as I got the email I it ordered it.

I also emailed Wison, my question:
"I have a EDC X9, any plans to make a mount that is compatible with the Trijicon RMR HD?"

Here's the answer I got:
"not sure yet about that, sure in the future we will but I don't time a timeline for that."

Kinda of a funny answer but they got back to me quickly and they are always polite.

 

Keep an eye out for any visual evidence of future brass dings as mentioned earlier. This may not cause any ejection issues, but may lead to whacking the sight enough to loosen it or throw off the adjustment…🤷‍♂️

I would imagine that if Wilson made the correct plate, there will be no issue. Don’t know about co-witness though. The RMR rides a little high right?

 

I just put the first 120 rounds through my new gun.
50 with the RMR that came with the gun, and 70 with the RMR-HD.
I had 2 failure to extract. 1 with each sight.

Also, a few failure to feed.

I hope it is all related to the gun being brand new….

Can’t say that the HD caused any problems though.

 

I ran 350+ rounds without one issue. I ended up selling plus trade. Just couldn't get comfortable without the grip safety.
Height was good, just a little too far forward for Wilsons liking.

 

Probably not as much of an issue with the double stacks vs single stacks but if the magazines are all new then load them up and let them sit for a couple days before trying again. It may solve your issue and if not it should eliminate magazine induced malfunction from the equation.

 

Circling back around, I am now up to 1000 rounds with my EDC X9 black edition, 4.5” threaded barrel model + Trijicon RMR HD. Zero issues.

I‘ve shot a steel match, two USPSA matches with this gun. Zero issues. The brass seems to eject in an appropriate fashion and not strike the face of the optic. I credit Wilson for designing a gun with an appropriate claw extractor and ejector. All 9 mm 1911s should have a claw extractor IMHO.

 

Good to hear. Did you mount it with the screws in the box? If so, the long ones or the short ones? No previous experience with Wilson’s plate system here.

 

IMO, Trijicon is the best. Don’t have the combo you want to know about but I have a couple year old Trijicon that I like a lot. Don’t carry it… yet. Fun to shoot and takes practice to get good and maintain proficiency. Once you do though it is a real game changer… they are the future and the future is here.

 

You may want to put a little hash marks (paint) on the screw head and the optic - easy eye check - if the screws loosen a little. I had one issue with a screw shearing off a few years back.

 

I’ll send you an inch pound torque wrench for Christmas! 😆

Similar relationship with the Staccato P and RMR HD. After hundreds of rounds thru it, not a single issue. I do, however, check the optic for signs of impact after each user. So far, so good.
