I installed one on my 1911, being, as I felt the rounds could come up a little higher, and I had some room left for a little more insertion. The gun does seem to run OK with the stock catch using FMJ, and sharply truncated bullets, but I thought the EGW catch would give me a more direct feed path for the rounds, especially the HP's, and other bullets with more flat noses. With the Dawson magazines, other than trim a little off the tip of basepad, which is the magazine stop, there is no clearance issues with the slide. I just slid the basepads back to test the fit. The Wilsons are a different issue, as they drag on the underside of the slide. I don't think by much though. Maybe stoning the part of the feed lips that are dragging will be enough.???
My question is, has anyone else who has this mag catch, run into these issues, and what did they do to resole them? Or with these issues, is the use of this high catch a non-starter? I did not modify anything yet, and I am just trying to get a handle on what to do next.
