EMP holster?

Maybe I did something wrong or I didn’t hit send. Can’t find my original post. If I’m breaking the rules, I apologize. My friend wants to buy a holster for her husband for Father’s Day. Will a Springfield EMP fit a 1911 holster?

Thank you.

My EMP 4" fits snugly in a kydex designed for a 4" 1911.
Commander slide and EMP slide are 0.915" wide.
Both frames are 0.755 ± 0.002" in front of the trigger guard. The guns look identical from the magazine catch forward. I think all the dimensional differences are in the butt.

My EMP4 fits all my 1911 holster (full size and Commander) however, the holsters are about 1/2” to 1” too long depending on the holster. I just ordered at 1791 gunleather holster made for the 4” EMP. Hasn’t arrived as yet, so I can’t say how well it fits.

My 3” EMP 40 fits my 3” 1911 holsters like it was made for it.

Although my 3” 1911 holsters IWB, this could be a mitigating factor.
And for an FYI the EMP fits great in my ancient, Askins Avenger holster too, and that is a belt slide style holster.

I remember seeing that thread and I think I responded to it. Not seeing that other thread now either. Basically all I said was that the EMP we have does seem to fit the full size 1911 holsters well. The ambi safety was my biggest concern since the EMP is the only gun we own that has an ambi safety. The 3 holsters i tried kept the safety in the locked position and i wasnt able to flick it off on the ambi side at all.

That being said, I did buy a couple of holsters made specifically for the EMP and its shorter 3" barrel.

Any 1911 holster will work for the barrel length listed, and an EMP 3 has a 3" barrel and an EMP 4 has a 4" barrel so they are not interchangeable. The holster selected must match.
