Thought everyone might enjoy this nice old S&W that i stumbled across recently.

Early 1956 production, with the first factory presentation box, only used for the first 6-8 months In 1956. 6 groove backstrap, also only made for the first six months of production before changing to 10 grooves.
Pretty neat, condition was a bonus, after I cleaned it up and renwaxed it, it looks to be at least 98%+, better than expected.

I passed up a number of the early S&W revolvers due to the barrel length. I prefer the 4" barrel and I've held out until they were available. The last one on the list is a Model 25 there are a ton of them out there in 6" and 8" but darn few in 4".

All of my S&W revolvers are pre-hillary hole. Anything with the hole is an abomination.

There were estimated less than 200 4" pre-29's shipped in 1956, AFAIK none for the first 6 mo. production, and AFAIK none in the early blue pebbled presentation box,
A 4" 1956 .44 magnum is a rare bird and I prefer the 4" guns. But If you want one of the first couple hundred .44 magnums made, a 6.5" barrel was the only option.

That is the nicest one that I have seen in a very long time.

You can never lose with a nice early Model 29, especially one with Cokes on it. Congratulations.

The early Model 29 grips were shaped like a Coke bottle when viewed from behind. They feel much better in the hand than the later target grips but unfortunately are quite rare. A decent set can easily sell for $500-$600 on eBay.
